Zipaquirá which is home to the amazing subterranean Salt
Cathedral to marvel at a masterpiece of religious art in the

expertly from the walls of the old salt mine as well as
visiting Guatavita to enjoy its Spanish-colonial atmosphere
that emanates from its very foundations and the Guatavita Lake
which is rumoured to be the site of the legend of “El Dorado”
which treasure hunters have been searching for, for hundreds

nightlife spots to salsa the night away, tantalise your

Guatavita & Guatavita Lake Day Tour |

An excursion to the small, Spanish colonial town of
Guatavita which is made up of large, cobbled plazas and
the most spectacular architecture, displayed in its
buildings. Enjoy trying local foods while listening to
typical bands and simply soaking up the humble atmosphere.
The tour of the town is complimented by a trip to the
imposing Guatavita Lake which the ancient tribe, the
Muiscas once worshiped as the entrance to another world,
inhabited by their gods and deities. The site is regarded
by many as the fabled “El Dorado” in which there may be a
huge hoard of gold treasures, offered by the Muiscas to
appease their spirits. |

Spend a day in the town of Zipaquirá, where is located the
amazing Salt Cathedral.
Once a salt mine, the site below ground has now been
meticulously crafted by skilled hands to create a
subterranean masterpiece of religious art that culminates
in a huge cathedral where citizens of the town
worship to this day. Many claim that the Salt Cathedral
should be named as one of the wonders of the world. |

This is the mountain which overlooks Bogotá and upon which
sits a church that is a sacred site for many pilgrims.
Take a cable-car ride to the peak where you will enjoy
sweeping panoramic views of the city, a stroll through a
handicraft market and a chance to take advantage of
Monserrate’s exclusive restaurants.

Enjoy a free morning as you see fit to admire the life of
Bogotá or to leave to visit an attraction of your choice.
Spend the afternoon, meandering through the historic
streets of the “Candelaria” district, to feel the effect
of the 16th century architecture pulling you back in time
and stop off at its many tourist spots.

Day 3 |

Enjoy your morning as you see fit (a variety of activities
and tours will be available on request).
During the afternoon, Another World will transport you to
the most stylish of areas in Bogotá, the 93 Park where you
will be free to browse its cafes, bars and restaurants or
to relax on the grass of the centrepiece of the park
beneath the afternoon sun.

Day 4 |

This day will provide an opportunity to go and explore the
legend of “El Dorado” which is said to
lie at the site of Guatavita Lake and at the bottom of the
lake is rumoured to be scattered with an
unimaginable hoard of gold treasure. A trip to the town of
Guatavita is also a treat. Walk through
its pretty plazas and enjoy a meal in one of its historic
buildings while listening to live music.

A day trip to Zipaquirá will see you walk beneath ground
to be privileged to visit the Salt Cathedral which is a
true sight to behold with huge salt structures being lit
