The Amazon Rainforest is the expansive area of South America, also known as the “Lungs of the World”. The life-source that feeds this breathtaking eco-system of lush, tropical forest and thousands of unique species is the Amazon River. Upon this vast movement of water is where the Floating House, otherwise known as the “Casa Flotante” or “Casa Navegante” is located, within the Amacayacu National Natural Park.
A unique experience in Colombia, the Casa Navegante provides a floating home upon the Amazon tributary; the Amacayacu River. Complete with personal driver to meander your private, floating home along the river to admire wildlife and Amazonian sunsets while lounging in one of its 10 exterior hammocks, this floating vessel ensures that guests get a truly luxurious experience in the richest of natural surroundings.
The Casa Navegante is constructed from local woods and has an extremely comfortable interior, complete with modern amenities such as hot water, solar-powered electricity, satellite telephone and fresh, drinking water. Two meals a day are prepared for guests and fresh fruit juices from the Amazon itself are available to tantalise the adventurous pallet.

Pink River-Dolphin
Watching
Travel in typical indigenous canoes through the dark waters of the Amazon’s tributaries to magical places where this beautiful animal is common and marvel at its majesty as it comes to see who its guests are for today.
Visits to Indigenous Communities   Dotted along the Amazon River are settlements of native tribes who have inhabited this land and prospered here for millennia. To see how they live and interact with each other and their environment is truly amazing.
Canoeing over Inundated Forests   Each year, the forest floor of the Amazon, becomes the river bed and taking a canoe ride through this watery world with a guide will bring about some unique sightings and experiences.
Traditional and Modern-Day Fishing   Using traditional Amazonian techniques or modern fishing equipment, drop your line into the water and be amazed and the weird, wonderful and large fish you will
be surprised to catch including the fearsome Red-Bellied Piranha.
Exotic Bird Watching   Skulk quietly through the foliage with a native guide who knows every tree and rock as we know our back yard until you reach the territories of Toucans, Macaws and other wonderful birds.
Jungle-Treks   are a must in the Amazon Rainforest to get a true feel of the sheer numbers of different plant and animal species that can be found here. A native guide will accompany you and point out sightings of fauna that ay otherwise be missed.
Night-time Caiman Watching   The Rainforest is a completely different place at night. Many of its residents leave their shelter from the daytime heat to hunt at night and this is the case for the magnificent caiman. Board a canoe with your guide and using a torch which will reflect in the eyes of these large reptiles, take away sightings and emotions that won’t be forgotten.
Swimming in Natural Pools   Swimming in a natural pool of the Amazon Rainforest not only seems to cleanse the body, but also the soul. Feeling the naturally purified waters washing over your body, promotes a sense of total peace with nature.
Indigenous Tattooing   When visiting the indigenous communities, it is a great honour for the native people to bestow upon you a typical tribal tattoo, using their traditional methods. This is a sign of acceptance between an ancient and primitive culture and a western visitor. It is a connection which will never be broken.
Canopying   Take a zip-line which will haul you high up into the tree tops where the majority of the Rainforest’s species exist. From this vantage point, you will be able to admire fruit-bearing trees and the animals that come from miles around to take advantage of their sustenance.
Canopying incurs an additional charge.
Jungle-Oil Massages   From December to April, certain exotic plants produce oils which can be harvested and used to perform the most delicious massages. These oils are known by the local people to have amazingly curative properties which have not yet been discovered by modern date science. The oils are known to relax the muscles beneath the skin and produce an anti-ageing effect.

Day 1   Arrive in Bogotá and spend the first night relaxing in the Bogotá Plaza Summit Hotel.
Day 2   Depart from Bogotá and fly to Leticia in the department of Amazonas where your hosts from the Heliconia Nature Reserve will arrive to pick you up, and travel with you along various picturesque Amazonian River systems in canoe until you reach the Reserve complex.
Day 2 - 9   This tour is arranged in a slightly different way. During your time spent in the Amazon Rainforest and specifically at the Heliconia Nature Reserve, each day is free to spend as you wish. A wide array of Rainforest-based activities are available (please see “includes” in the menu bar above) every day at the guests disposal in which to participate in. Any activity may be repeated depending on your preferences. This plan is due to the Amazon simply having so much to enjoy that we believe it is imperative that you spend every minute of your stay at this Reserve, as you see fit.
Day 9   Depart Leticia and fly back to Bogotá.
Depart Bogotá for your home destination.
Please note: upon arrival in Bogotá before departure to your home destination, it is possible to extend your stay in Bogotá to enjoy the city and to relax between flights.
