The flat, open-savannah grasslands of Colombia’s eastern
plains stunningly showcases one of the most spectacular
landscapes to be found anywhere in the world. The daily
crimson sunrise is a scene not to be missed as the sun’s rays
stretch out to caress this magical place for as far as the eye
can see, awakening its complex eco-system for another day of
searing heat and breathtaking wildlife.
Many of the species that inhabit the vast plains are common
also to the Amazon Basin such as the majestic Scarlet Ibis,
the formidable Black Caiman, the gigantic Anaconda and
amazingly, in the River Meta, the mystical Pink Freshwater
Dolphin.
The impressive River Meta runs through the eastern plains and
provides visitors a contrast to the sun-scorched grasslands,
where flocks of Scarlet Ibis can be seen grazing and where the
romantic cow-boy lifestyle lives on. The culture of the plains
is a proud and interesting one with rich musical customs,
based on the harp and the accordion and a mouth-watering
beef-based gastronomy which is typical of the region’s
cattle-farming traditions.
The eastern plains is a magical realm, full of awe-inspiring
sights, sounds and smells to fuel the imagination.

and Half Board at the Hotel del Llano. Lunch is provided
during all day-tours.

Day 1 |
|
Arrive in
Bogotá and spend the first night at your leisure. |
|
Day 2 |
|
Depart from Bogotá and arrive in the city of Villavicencio
in the Department of Meta. Relax and take advantage of the
hospitality of the Hotel del Llano. In the evening, hop
aboard a “Chiva” party bus for a starlit tour of the city,
stopping at places of interest for refreshments and
photograph opportunities.

Day 3 |
|
A day of adventurous touring of the eastern plains,
crossing the Salinas, Upín and Caney Rivers in 4X4
off-road jeep. You will be able to appreciate typically
breathtaking landscapes of the eastern
plains, cattle-farmland, cultivations of Palm Trees and
once the town of Cumural is reached, a delicious
steak-dish, typical to the region will be savoured.

Day 4 |
|
Visit the “Los Ocarros” Bio-Park where examples of the
flora and fauna of the eastern plains can be admired and a
conservation of these magnificent species is taking place.
Another World will take you on a city tour of Restrepo and
to visit a swimming pool of natural waters where you can
relax in its waters or play mini-tejo (a typical Colombian
game) and ping pong surrounded by spacious grounds of lush
greenery.

Day 5 |
|
A guided city tour of Puerto Lopez, followed by a trip to
the geographic centre of Colombia and a monument called
the “Obelisco” from where you can see amazing, sweeping
panoramas of the surrounding landscape. Admire the
astounding wildlife of the eastern plains during an
eco-tour of the “Tetas de Maria” hill and from aboard an
exciting speedboat ride on the impressive Rio Meta.

Day 6 |
|
This day will bring you the experience of ultimate natural
relaxation with a visit to the “Hot Waters” Nature Reserve
to experience the waters of natural pools, the medicinal
properties of the Manantiales thermal hot-springs, a
natural Turkish bath and a leisurely eco-walk through the
reserve, appreciating the local fauna and flora. On the
return journey to the hotel, a stop-off at Paratebueno
will give you the chance to take a tour of this beautiful
town.

Day 7 |
|
Depart Villavicencio.
Arrive in Bogotá.
Transfer to El Dorado International Airport for departure
to your home country.
