At first glance, the Guajira Desert appears a dry, desolate,
inhospitable land but this couldn’t be further from the truth.
Hidden rainforest-oases, a unique indigenous culture and a
perfectly adapted eco-system all lend to the experience of
being in a magnificently magical world. Another World is
delighted to escort you through a myriad of sights and
experiences that will leave you speechless.
The Guajira desert-peninsula is in the far north of Colombia’s
Caribbean coast and is the northernmost point of South
America. This exciting tour around the peninsula takes our
guests to where golden dunes cascade down to meet the emerald
green sea and this spectacular landscape will be the perfect
location in which to sleep in typical hammocks, beneath the
most wondrous, star-filled skies. In the far north of the
region is located the Macuira National Natural Park which
amazingly, in the middle of the desert, is a tropical oasis
which you will enjoy a visit to amongst other special
surprises. During your desert-adventure, you will also have
the most amazing privilege of being guided across the zone by
a member of the Wayuú tribe that inhabits the Guajira. You are
also invited to stay in their villages and immerse yourself in
their culture and customs, including their dances, foods and
telling of myths and legends around the communal fire.
Experiencing the Guajira Desert enriches your spirit for life
and leaves you with myths and legends of your own.
Breakfast is included at
the Bogotá Plaza and full board throughout the expedition
across the Guajira desert.
Transport throughout the duration of the stay in Colombia is
included.
