There are very few
destinations in the world that can boast a tropical, Caribbean
scene, framed by a historically important, 17th century
coastal-city. Cartagena de Indias is one of the privileged
few. It was one of the first built cities in the
newly-discovered Americas and became one of the most important
trading ports. Today it is a fine example of an exquisitely
preserved 17th century Spanish-colonial city and is attracting
many visitors to marvel at its magnificent buildings and
Caribbean scenery.
Casa Mantilla lies within the amazing coastal defensive-wall
which was built in the 1600s to protect the city from English
pirates seeking Spanish gold.
The house itself displays an extremely relaxing ambience with
a private, exterior patio and pool-area, 3 pretty bedrooms,
decorated in cool, calming whites, a dining/living area,
kitchen, study and an amazing terracotta-tiled rooftop terrace
with views across the city.
This residence retains the original colonial architectural
structure with the wooden beams in the top floors creating
beautiful slanted ceilings. This is a particularly romantic
feature in the master bedroom.
From Casa Mantilla’s location, guests have excellent access to
all of Cartagena’s tourist hotspots which lie where cafes bars
and excellent seafood restaurants can be found.
